.45 Comparison Sig Vs. HK

good call. i absolutely love my p220 combat! it has spoiled me for most other guns. sounds like the only problem you had with it may have been mag related. i've had a jam or two with mine using cheap aftermarket mags and the cheapest ammo i could find, but that's not the guns fault. it's really a great sidearm and i'd definitely trust my life with it. i've never fired the usp, and i'm sure it's a great gun, but i'll stick with my 220.

thanks for sharing, I'm a big fan of 45's, and I've been looking at the P220 as my next 45....

Very nice review.

I've had a SIG P220 since 1989 and still enjoy shooting it today as much as the day I received it (my father bought it for me when I graduated from college). For the past 22 years, it's my P220 that I judge all other .45s (non 1911 platformed).

I had both the Sig 220 and the USP 45. I still have the USP and let the Sig go. Both are high end shooters, none better. I just liked the trigger better on the USP and it has a higher capacity (which may soon be banned again!!!) Don't over look the Glock 21. It's higher capacity also. I tried for years to hate Glocks but I took one sip of the coolaid and now I own 7 of them. You can't go wrong with any of them.
Cheers

Im an HK guy. I have several and my brother is a Sig guy. He only has a couple. All my HKs have had many many rounds put through them and none of them have had a single issue. I love everything about them.
My brother loves his Sigs too but is venturing over to HK after shooting mine for the past several years.

Glocks are awesome simple guns. I have a few. I keep trying to say they are bottom tier guns but dang they just work.
Also, I love the XDm's too.

I am in the market for a new EDC .45 and am leaning to the KAHR PM45, and thoughts?

I tell whatSig I find to be the best shooter and what feels the best in hand. The P239. That guns is just great. Personal preference of course.
If you find the HK to blocky you owe it to yourself to hold the HK P30. That thing is stupid comfortable.

I think there are far better choices over Kahr. I had a couple and they were fine. Some malfunctions. I had a Kahr .45 and that thing kicked like a mule. The best part about the Kahr's for me is the size. I love the grip diameter.

my next will be a subcompact xd 9. i love those things. actually, i used to like glocks until i shot that gun. the xd is so nice to shoot and has great features. after shooting it, the glock didn't feel as natural as it had before and all of my shots were coming up low. not really sure why that is, but every time i shoot the xd, i want it more.

rc1254, Kahrs are alright from what I hear. The best thing to do when buying a handgun is to first decide what you want. Da/sa, sa, da, exposed hammer, safetys, etc. Then pick up and fondle as many weapons as you want, if you can go to a range that rents out pistols, shoot all that you can. See what you like best. For me, I like 2 pistols, 1911s and sig220s. I have a 220carry, when I buy my next ccw pistol, it will have a beaver tail, sa, with other features I want. The last but MOST important two things I will suggest, one, price NOT BE AN ISSUE! If you are going to edc it, trust your life to it, you dont want to limit yourself on pistols because of money, if thats the case, save up and then buy one, dont go cheapo though, because cheapo will fail you when you need it the most. The second thing, is shoot the damned thing, and shoot it as many times a week as absolutly possible, tear it apart put it together, know your gun, your trusting your life to it, you better know everything about it.

Just my .02

any thoughts on how the SIG / H&K compare with the CZ75/97?

Full Size .45 ACP? I am sticking with one of my Colt, Springfield or Wilson Combat pistols.

Currently, I am more often carrying my Wilson Combat CQB Compact though. This one is a real dream. The leather is by Sam Andrews. He makes all my holsters.

There's a lot of good choices out there. I looked for a while and I bought the FNP45 USG
It's is very nice pistol.

I tried out both the HK and the Sig a while back, and ended up getting the Sig. It's been a great gun. Very accurate and reliable. The trigger on the Sig was much better, which is why I ended up getting that one. The HK looks "cooler", IMHO, but that's just me.

I just recently picked up a Kimber 1911, and I think I like it better than the Sig. I haven't gotten to shoot it yet though, I'll be interested in how well I'll be able to hit with it. My one complaint about the Sig is that the finish doesn't seem very durable. Mine has quite a bit of "holster wear". Not a big deal on an alloy-frame gun with a stainless slide, but it doesn't look great. My all stainless Kimber should stay shiny and pretty forever. :)

I have the Glock 21 too, but I don't seem to be able to shoot it very well. The Sig is much more accurate in my hands. I think this is due to the Glock's relatively crappy, long and gritty trigger.

This is very true. I'm quite happy with my P30.

Just owning the thing, I've shot more in the past 8 months than the previous 8 years.:o

The only thing that matters between the Sig-Sauer and the H&K is the fit in your hand. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them or the Glock-21. The G21's grip is too big for me to feel comfortable with it. That doesn't mean I could not use one if I had to, but I think the grip is paramount with a handgun. All three of the pistols mentioned would serve anyone just fine as long as the fit is right.

When I bought my long gone P-220 years ago, I also chose it over the G21 because it would be easier to conceal, being a single stack vs. the G21's double.
