.45 Comparison Sig Vs. HK

I have a P220 and P239, and don't care for DA/SA, but I bet its just a matter of getting used to a particular system.

Everyone has their own perspective on the .45ACP I have had the 1911, the 1911 Clones, the Racy STI, Para P14 then the Sig 220, HKUSP45 and even a Taurus PT45...

then fell for my one and only SW MP45. Best of all of them, fits my hand, points to aim, goes bang everytime.

it is definitely all about the feel... my p220 is the most comfortable gun i've ever held and it hits where i aim. when you find that in a gun, it's time to buy it because that combination is few and far between. i also tried the sig 2022 (or something like that) and i hated it. i couldn't stand the way it felt in my hand compared to the 220. it's weird how much it matters, but i also don't like the xdm and i absolutely love the xd.

also, i've been shooting the famed beretta 9mm a lot lately and i hate it. i shoot great with it, but i hate how huge the grip is. i don't understand why anyone would make it a standard issue firearm. i'm an average sized dude and there are a lot of smaller guys than me and ladies in our military and police forces having to shoot that gun. seems like they would switch to something with adjustable back straps with all the choices out there now.

Sigs are GUARANTEED 2" groups @25yds out of the box. Handloaded ammo, I was hitting a 2.5 inch steel target at 75meters with mine. Not all the time but 2 for 3 or right in there. In the 5k+ rounds I have through mine, the only time it gave me any problem, is if I seated a bullet to long, and thats not the guns fault, thats mine.

The M&P felt great but I could get pass it being a full size handgun with 10+1 rounds. The FN is 15 +1

The only thing that matters between the Sig-Sauer and the H&K is the fit in your hand. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them or the Glock-21. The G21's grip is too big for me to feel comfortable with it. That doesn't mean I could not use one if I had to, but I think the grip is paramount with a handgun. All three of the pistols mentioned would serve anyone just fine as long as the fit is right.

When I bought my long gone P-220 years ago, I also chose it over the G21 because it would be easier to conceal, being a single stack vs. the G21's double.

Nailed it Don.

I have handled G21s and FNP45s but kind of like the HK (not quite as bad with the HK) they were blocks in my hand. Uncomfortable as heck.

It's interesting that you dont like the feel of the SP2022 Guntram. I hold them all the time at gunshows and every time I go into Academy and I LOVE the grips. The SP2022 is the finest value in the semi-auto pistol market imo.

And to each his own of course, but give me the Sig or HK over a 1911 any day. I agree the triggers and feel of most 1911s are fantastic. But I have issues with its reliability. Some people have had flawless 1911s. Others have sold all theirs due to inconsistent reliability, and these were even Kimber, Colt, and springfield guys. Out of the box reliability imo goes with the Sig or HK and probably even the glock.

Kimbers have had A LOT of issues lately, just take a look at 1911forums.com. Newer springfields are supposed to be the beezneez though in 1911s for a factory pistol

The Springield TRP is the cats meow.

Speaking 1911 I've been thinking about getting the Colt black Rail gun. Anybody around here have one?

I have my Sig 220 for 14 years now. Carried it on duty and off. Never jams and accurate. Couldn't really get the feel for the HK's mag release, so never got one.

yeah, i'm not sure why... i actually shot it because it was the only sig i could find for rent before i bought my 220 and i wanted to see how sigs shot. it was a .40 though, so it really wasn't much help at all. but who needs an excuse to try a new gun, right? :) anyway, i thought it felt rough in my hands and the grip was a little fatter. i think they have the ability to put different grips on them, but i didn't like the feel. there is something about the grip on my 220... it feels so smooth and comfy. no doubt the 2022 is a good gun and a good value, but it just wasn't that comfortable to me in comparison. like i said, i've really been spoiled by my sig.

whoa there... i love my sig, but 1911's are right up there. my father-in-law has an old 1911 that was an issued sidearm to one of his family members many years ago. it's not as comfortable as my sig, but that thing shoots so nice. we all love it. we've actually backed off shooting it because it's getting old, but as far as i know, there haven't been any reliability issues apart from the little rubber bushing being replaced once. just once. that's amazing! anyway, yeah, 1911s are sweet guns.

I like the Glock 21 for the money.

Ditto on that, love mine. Or a well made 1911.

Never really liked H&K....good guns...just never clicked with me though.

I've owned a couple of Sig 220's over the years. First one I had was top notch, liked it, performed well, but got traded out for something I wanted more at the time. Wish I had kept that one.

Regretted the trade and got another many years later. Its performance and build wasn't on par at all with the first one I had...also got traded. Most of what I'm hearing about Sig these days from a wide variety of sources is that their quality control isn't what it used to be. Kinda sad. Had a couple other 9mm Sigs and they were pretty good too...but times and quality change I guess with some companies.

Don't want to come off as a Sig hater at all though, I really did like most of the ones I owned. Majority of my experience with Sig was quite positive, just have different tastes now and firearms that suit me better personally.

Guntram- Yeah if you get an opportunity to try both grips that come with the SP2022 you should. Another reason why It''s such a great value. You get two grips!

Magus- That sucks man. I've heard the same things that Sig QC is not as great as it used to be, but I think I've also heard it's getting better.

Good right up but one thing that I believe you messed up,under field stripping shouldnt it say recoil spring instead of mainspring?

I bought my Sig 220 used back in 93.It's been the finest semi auto handgun that I have ever owned. My other favorite was a HK P7 M13 9mm,sure wish I had'nt traded that one.
