$450 to Spend?? What to buy?

He is in high demand now so you would have to contact him. If you are not in a big hurry and have an idea of what you want it will be WELL WORTH the wait! He will do the blade style you want in the steel you want with the handle you want! We has done several for me and they are all GREAT! Just contact him and see what he says but you dont find many custom knifemakers like Alan who will let you design your knife to your liking! Good Luck and tell him Kevin sent you his way! A Sebenza 25 would certainly be a solid choice. I've had a few Striders pass through my hands, and they are not even close, in my opinion, for many reasons.

Of course, a custom built to your specifications would also be an outstanding choice.

Sebenza, Umnamzaan, or, well one of those. I would not go custom yet. Get a knife with lots of history and build consistency and known fit and finish, and with CRK provides that. A zaan was on the forum for sale a little while ago, may still be on.

Once you get experience with high quality knives and what you like and don't, then move to a custom. And CRK has superb customer service, even for used knives.

Get the Sebenza!

Really though, just go with the one you like the best.

1. Buy a Spyderco Military (plain jane G10)
2. Pocket $325.00
3. Use it
4. Realize it is the only knife you every need
5. Thank me later
6. Never look back

Definitely Sebenza.

Man, for the quality of blades out there, I think I'd get a few Spydercos, maybe a Tilt, a few Benchmades, and a couple GEC traditionals.

If someone is just going to confiscate it from you, or it just falls out of your pocket you'd be out big bucks. I can see how their pretty cool, but I don't think I'd show someone on the street $400. If I really wanted an indoor toy, that black Benchmade Infidel looks like fun, or maybe the single edge Infidel with S30V.

I agree with Humint, get a Spyderco, any one. Youll still have enough to get something else like a Becker Bk7 and still have money left

I would recommend the Bryd Cara Cara.
With your budget, you could afford 22 and have change left over to celebrate with an ice cream.

Im a rexford fan so I saw just get a zt 0801 when you can then use the extra $ for something else or save up some more again
If you want an Alan Davis you can check my recent started threads and find the 1 i have up fs @ 400$
Other than that I would support a custom for that money

I'll throw in my 2 cents: I picked up an SNG w/ new lock-up and I love it... it may be the last 'modern' folder I buy... which permits me to focus my attention on traditional folders... ;)

No doubt all seem solid recommendations... and Humint's might be the most reasonable! But I've been real happy with my SNG. Enjoy your choice!
