I had one - a gift from my wife - for a day. As she and the salesman noted, my Shoki, the cf/M390 480-1, was off centered. The salesman said I could exchange it - and I did - but for another knife - a 581 Barrage also in M390, as he was out of the 480-1's. Two weeks ago, I was back at that pusher's - he had more in stock - I still couldn't 'pull the trigger' - but my wife could! Rumor has it that I will see another one - a perfect one, at that - later this month as a birthday present. Great way to get one - as a gift - you don't have to spend your own few knife denaro's!
My observations...
If you love the 610 Rukus and 630 Skirmish, like I do, the 480 is likely kind of small - and fragile - for you. It is the quintessential 'Gent's knife'. The blade is nice - seems thinner than it is - also seems more robust than it should be - maybe the 480-1's flat grind vs the 480's hollow grind influences that feeling. The 480 looks almost 'dainty', while the CF scales/M390 flat ground 480-1 looks more 'manly' - for a small knife. Not sure about the Nak Lok blade lock. Gotta wonder about that little lanyard ring, too. The pouch is nice... beats the drawstring BM bag, for sure. Generally speaking, I like a more massive - and sturdy - knife. Still, it's so neat...
