Happy 4th to all of you in the USA, and a good day to all the rest of you chaps on BF.
Freedom is a great blessing....Treasure it.
I am using this thread to bring to attention that recent flood of registered users who are coming here to ask questions about selling, making, shipping ( sales items), and retail questions.
To start a thread discussing these type topics you need a Knifemaker or Service Provider level membership.....that is and has always been the rule. As most here know, I let the rule bend a good bit in many cases, but lately the threads here and in other sub-forums have been blatant.
A thread on, "Is it worth going into full time knifemaking?", or, "Where do you find customers for your knives?" is a discussion on sales in general, not specifics on a certain knife or products you produce. That will be OK as long as you don't start discussing the "Line of folders I am producing", or say things like, "I sold twenty knives at the show last week....".
If you are a regular here, you should well be aware of this rule. That also makes it part of your community responsibility to NOT ANSWER threads where you know the line has been crossed. If you think a thread is not proper due to sales talk, or there is a problem with any thread in the topic, conduct, or language used....just click the triangle at the lower left of the post and the "Report Post" window will open. Type in your concern, like "Selling", or "Language", etc. and hit send. The mods will take a look and deal with it from there. There is no record of your report available to the general forum. Helping out with reporting a bad post or conduct is a big part of community responsibility.
The rules are the second thing in the stickies, and were agreed to by you when you joined BF..... but I will link a discussion and explanation of them here:
