Took a hike with my friend in New Hope PA on the Delaware river.
Practiced some Fire starting and Messed around with some found items.

Nice pics mate.
Ouch! on the BK7, did it chip like that just from the wood?

As far as i could tell it was from the wood, but i honestly cant see how wood did that to the BK7. i fixed it though put a new edge on it, now its better then new :P

nice pics! about the bk-7...damn. if it was all wood then i would've sent it back. who knows how the rest of the heat treat is like on that particular knife. i'm not bashing beckers - i've beaten the crap outta my bk-2 & bk-9 and not even a tiny chip.

you're only 60 miles away from me. i've always wanted to hike the delaware water gap area. i'll let you know if riz_aaroni and myself make it to that area for a hike if you'd like to join us.

The BK-7 is a great knife. I'd get in touch with Paul at KaBar on this. Looks like you may have gotten a fluke.

Absolutely. The BKs don't generally chip out like that.

I have dinged the edge on mine a few times but only slightly and it took accidentally pounding it against a rock to do it.

That is definately a treatment flaw that their steel guy needs to be made aware of. Send it back to them for an exchange and so they can diagnose what caused yours to fail. If a piece of wood did that then the blade is unsafe.

Nice pictures, looked like a real nice relaxing day.

Thanks for taking the time and sharing.

so if i maybe hit a rock thats normal? I may have, i like to think i wouldnt but its possible.

Yes that's very unusual for a BK7. KA BAR will take care of you unless you like it better now as you said.
