Well.. with a Yeee Haaarr!! and a Yankee Dandy Doodle...
Happy 4th O' July to my American Buddies.
I hope everyone gets a go in a fully souped Dodge Charger with homemade apple pies for wheels and an exhaust louder than Cyndi Laupers hairdo.
And it doesnt get anymore American than that!
Except for this

Ironically however the T shirt is made in China and the knife company is named after a monarch ...which leaves the Iggster as Commander in Chief..I guess.:D:thumbsup:

Don't know much about Iggy. Thought at first you were referring to Coca-Cola (I bought a 12-pack yesterday. And a 12-pack of Budweiser)!
And thanks! Happy 4th of July to you!

Picture from 1997 of the USS Constitution, on her 200th anniversary. After a full restoration she was under sail unassisted for the first time in 116 years. Although built after the War of Independence, she was part of a fledgling nations first warships built to protect our interests at sea. We had won our Independence, now we sought to maintain it. Built stronger and faster and heavier armed than a normal frigate of her day, she was meant to overpower any other frigate and outrun ships of the line.

Soon enough she would prove her mettle, and that of a new nation. Earning the nickname "Ol Ironsides" displaying a toughness that mirrors the people of her nation.
Happy Independence day !

Good on ya Meako.:thumbsup:

Great post and pics David.:thumbsup::cool:

I recently read an account of the USS Constitution and USS Chesapeake in one of the books of Patrick O’ Brian’s great Aubrey-Maturin maritime series: The Fortune of War.

(The first book in the series is Master and Commander. Check out the movie, if you haven’t seen it.)

Apparently one of the reasons for the Ironsides nickname was that the framing for the six frigates authorised by the Naval Act of 1794 was made out of American Live Oak which was extremely resilient, more so than English Oak. Naval shot would often bounce right off of it.

Happy Independence Day, I hope you all have a great day!:thumbsup::)

Some great American food and a great American knife:
