4x4 suv

Most my 4x4 buddies had/have Tacoma and they are beasts for being smaller. I loved jeeps, but id easily take a new Tacoma over a jeep.

I drive a FWD suv (which sucks, but im in california and 4x4 is more a sport than necessity), but this thing gets almost 30 mpg and has done snow without chains easy, just wouldnt do frozen roads near cliffs haha.

Currently have a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder and love it. Has been a great rig and the only thing done to it has been tires/oil changes. Bought with 54,000 miles and now at 116,000. You can pick them up much more reasonable than a Toyota but I feel you are getting close to the same reliability.

currently looking at a gmc 04 envoy. inline 6 4.2l. anyone know if the front differential is built up into the motor or separate on this one?

Toyota Tacoma or Four Runner or Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder.

The Nissan's can be a little harder on gas but, are solid and reliable like the Toyota's. My early '90 Nissan pickup was the first year for fuel injection and I put a ~135K on that pickup when I sold it to my sister. I'm in a Toyota Tundra now which I have run really hard for ~100K with no issues.

I was going to say Land Cruiser as I have a 96 80 series and LOVE it. But I was thinking the OP might want a little better MPG.

In addition, sounds like the LC might be a bit much for his budget. A 4th gen V8 4runner will run 15000-18000. You'll be hard pressed to find a decent late model LC for that little.

thanks for the responses. the differential was built into the motor. no good.

thanks for the responses. wound up with 2010 jeep liberty. 2 wheel with traction control is already better than my blazer in 2 wheel. the blazer was a tank in 4wd. in 4wd for the jeep, we will see. thanks again everyone.
