I think this thread has established the fact that the gas station knife may be your only sub $40 5 inch folder option. Just fill up the tank while you are there. You won’t notice another $40.

Try this method of closing the Pocket Bushman. I picked this up from a post by @FortyTwoBlades. Works like a champ and I'm never in fear of slicing my hands.

All kidding aside, it's a pretty neat knife. I keep thinking a reblade in something like 8670, 15n20 or aeb-l would be cool. That would blow the op's price parameters though.

I absolutely love the Large Luzon (I have it), and I'm going to buy a Medium Luzon.

Other than the 6" Cold Steel Luzon & Hold Out, the only other folder w/a =/>5" blade that I know of is the Spyderco Tatanka but, if you can find one, it'll cost you a lot more than $25.

I owned one and, despite the fact that I'm a fan of BIG FOLDERS but it was too big & heavy for me and I sold it long ago. However, I've still got a K2 (4.52") and the 2 variations of the Szabo Folder (4.6"). So, I'm not sure why I sold the Tanaka to begin with. However, I have no interest in buying another.

Kershaw strata xl at BHQ is $45.
5.4” blade of D2 steel on bearings.
It seems like a good price for this knife if it’s your style. (they originally went for ~$75)

Occasionally, I have seen the Cold Steel 5" Voyager and the 6" TiLite for about $50USD on the site in the middle of the country. Those would be my suggestions. Let us know what you decide to get.

Used XL Voyagers can be found sometimes at Ebay , ~$30 to 50 .

I bought two long time ago, gifted one and sold the other one to a guy who fell in love with it in Cairo... I miss it!

Might buy another one, but they are 49€ in the store I usually buy my stuff from (I live in Spain).
