5.11 cub 2.0 Karambit?

It depends on what you are trying to do with it. I don't like it very much and sold mine. Mine was the first version made with G10, but it's the same knife really. How much are you willing to spend on a knife? If you can give me more info I can give you more help.

Well currently I own the Boker CLB Karambit... I'm looking for something much like a fox or emerson, but I would rather not spend over 100 bucks on it. I def want another folder. I'm using it mostly as a back up self defense tool, but also for maybe little to none as a utility tool. I'm pretty much trying to stay below 90$. I kinda have to buy it on amazon.com becuase I get giftcards and am stocking those up,which makes it alot more affordable.

The 5.11 has Taiwan on the blade which turns me off all together. If you must have a kerambit for a SD tool in the folder variety, there really isn't that much out there that sticks out as being strong, and built with quality. Have you tried looking into the Spyderco folding Kerambit? Someone was selling one not long ago and it is a frame lock. I want to say that it's made in the US. The Emerson is a good one since it is quick to deploy. As for price, I would rather not depend on most sub 100.00 folders. There are a lot more to choose from in the 150.00 range. If the most you can afford is 80.00 then I can't argue that the 5.11 is a bad choice. You should honestly look into the Spyderco Endura too since it has the emerson wave feature and is made in Japan. They go for around 65.00 I think.

I have seen the Fox online for $99 so if you can come up with another $10 from your $99 budget, why settle?

If you want to try the modern karambit design 5.11 is a great start. I had got the Journeyman model in a trade and was very impressed with it. Lock up was solid, great fit and finish, wicked blade shape, and very natural grip. This new model 5.11 has better steel and really cool frn handles. The only reason I traded off mine was because I wanted the Emerson with the wave feature. If that's not a big deal to ya the 5.11 is a great option.

Thanks man! Yeah, I've seen a mod you can do to kinda help wave it... wave feature is pretty sick, but if I can't get it then I'm not sweatin it too much. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get the 5.11... I get free giftcards from swagbucks and listia so I'm saving those up and hopefully I'll end up getting it for "free" :)

You could always have it modded with the wave feature down the road. There are many here on BF whom can wave it for ya. I think it's STR who makes the low rider clips i had seen pics of his waved 5.11s and they looked outstanding.

Don't be fooled as there are a lot of quality knives coming out of Taiwan these days. If you already have some experience in carrying and using a Karambit, you find an acceptable one, and you have the funds (gift cards) to let you purchase it, then I would go for it.

Cutter17's got a point I personally prefer American knives. But Taiwan produces some great stuff for reasonable prices. The Rat 1 for example and a lot of spydercos are made there as well. Back on topic a lot of people don't like the karambit which is understandable. But purely from a collectors stand point it's a really unique design that has a long rich history. You gotta try at least one.

This is the most solid folding karambit on the market. Lock up is impressively solid. It just needs to be waved. Get one, I promise you will not regret it..

Oh yeah I agree! I have a boker clb karambit and it's pretty solid for being made in China! I do have some experience.. I'm kinda teaching myself self defense with it. Yeah man, I already have ten dollars worth of giftcards, so I'm hoping to end up buying it for around $20.

WOw that looks so nice haha! How does that particular wave feature work for you? I was kinda worried about the lock back style since your palm touches it.

I wouldn't carry it personally. I would rather carry something that contributes to the American economy, and not Taiwan. Just my 2 cents.

Like Piig's photo...did the same with mine, although I shaved a bit more off the spine (got the idea from Charlie Mike). Deploys everytime out of a small, flat pistol holster I carry in my backpocket to keep the ring signature low. Good lock-up, and no worries so far on the lockback. Just be careful around sheeple, they don't see the utility applications of the blade due to the 'bad guys' using them on TV

Yessir will do! Hey, are you by any chance in law enforcement? I'm interested in taking criminal justice in college and then joining my county sheriff office.
