Have any of you guys tried these pants out? I was wondering if they had weird tapered ankles or if they could actually work in a business environment. They seem kinda cool with all the extra pockets hidden in the seams. They are the 5.11 Tactical Work Utility Covert Khaki Pants.

The reason I started looking at these is because I was looking through the EDC thread and I just can't see how someone in a business environment could carry half the stuff a lot of the guys on this forum carry on a daily basis.

I've worn a pair for ~10 months now. I use them for work. They are very comfortable. The best feature is the hidden pockets behind each front pocket. Inside each of these are two pistol magazine slots.

I find they work well to hold my Benchmade EDC, Leatherman micra, and Fenix flashlight. I've tied small lanyards to the micra and Fenix to give me something to grab since the slots are deep.

I've also pocket carried a RAT RC-3 on occassion. The pants do a good job preventing the knife from printing through the pocket and being obvious about what's there.

My only gripe is they've faded more than I think they should've at this point. Still, I'd get another pair.

Whats the cut on these? How do they fit? The tactical pants taper down at the bottom and are wider in the thigh. I am not a fan of this fit, I prefer a straight leg, loose, and flat front. Are these like that? I love 5.11s EMS pants, fo work with boots on, but wish they were more straight leg for off duty...

J Williams - they're cut as you like. Straight leg, flat front (no pleat). There is a tuxedo style waistband that is a nice feature. The fabric is on the heavy side, so they are rugged (other than mentioned slight fading).

I noticed you can get the pants with a free leather belt on sale here:

$30 bucks for both is a deal.

I currently have three pairs of these pants. I really like them and would recommend them. As has been stated, the cut is nice, the waist is very comfortable and the pockets are nice and functional. The pockets down the leg are a little too much, but they are very subtle and have come in handy once or twice. I wear them to anything that would be business related unless it requires a suit.

I might just pick up another pair or two at that price.

All in all, I would say get them and you will not regret it.

Also, FYI about lapolicegear. If they have something on back order, they will hold your entire order till everything is ready to ship. I have waited almost a month before to get something. It can be a little frustrating, but the service has always been good.

Sweet! Thanks man.

I wear them to church. My normal edc of gun, light, reload, SAK, and two folders hide quite nicely in them. The mag pockets hold a folder perfectly, and the hidden zippered seam pockets are great for lights. I use a two AA Fenix L2d, so that long pocket works slick.

Great pants.

I saw those at LAPG and was wondering about them. I remember Dockers had something very similar a few years ago called the Iconic Mobile.

I have had a pair of the tactical pants for a few years now and in fact wore them today. I just had a big hole in the leg sewn up by a lady here. I wear them here in the jungle and in the city as I can carry books, wallet, passport etc. In US I used to carry a Smith and Wesson 642 in the back pocket. My only complaint is they are not as strong as I would have thought. I had two pairs that fell apart quickly. The snap came off one and the other developed a big hole in the knees after only a short time.

Take a look at the Woolrich series. Better made than the 5.11's, and far more comfortable, IMO. We sell so much Woolrich, that we barely carry the 5.11's anymore.
