That's ridiculous. Any jeweler can change a watch battery. They usually charge about $4. I could tell you how to do it, depending on whether you have a screw back, snap-on back, or the kind with the 4 tiny Phillips screws, but whether it's really worth the trouble to save yourself a couple of bucks....
It has a screw on back and I'm not afraid of it. I already tore into it (delicatly) and switched the batteries but the digital won't come back up( still ticks but no computations). Usually there is a reset or some trick to restart it.
Well, there's nothing that says "RESET" or "R" on it, I take it. Can you find a model number on the movement? Try searching the web -- you are not the first person to encounter this problem.
