5/16 inch knives

+1 on the RTAKII, also Becker BK9, Ontario Ranger RD9, The Busse Combat Bushwhacker Mistress is available right now for ~$350.

Ankerson's gonna recommend Busses; I'm gonna go with Randalls. Two sides of the same coin, really.

Ok thanks guys.

But out of curiosity what are those more expensive choppers you would recommend?

Any Busse FBM like the FFBM, CGFBM, NMFBM etc. (Best choices over all)

Scrapyard Dog Father.

Yep, we agree.

Both are top of the food chain and the best fixed blades on the Planet IMO. :)

Sure thing ddran. For the money I would say the RTAKII is a hell of a chopper. But then again, you can't really beat Busse's warranty and their INFI steel.

The Ontario Ranger RD series of knives are well worth taking a look at. They are constructed of 1/4" carbon steel (5160), and have micarta handles. The RD-9 is a heckuva chopper. You can find these for $100 to $120 online.

Customs and semi-customs like Ron Hood's Outlaw, the SRKW Dogfather, Busse Bushwhacker, etc...
the Ontario RTAK II is a 3/16" blade, as is the Becker BK9 and the soon to be released ESEE Junglas.
