the only other 5/16 is the HOFSH and the HOFSH LE. There is one on Epray right now so you can bid on it.

I have heard many people claim 5/16 oldies but I have never seen anything close to 5/16. The old fatties usually got from 0.265 to 0.29. I have had fatties that people claimed were 5/16 and when I mic'd them they were under 0.30.

So the HOFSH is the only true 5/16 blade aside from the new LEFBM

Let me go check and see if I have something over .300.............

Fattest knife I have is a SHBA that measures .308.
The fattest SHSH I got measures .298

I have (5) Steel Hearts at .300 or over. One BBSHSH with no finish at .308, the rest include finish at .300, .302, .304, .304. So, none that I would really call 5/16", but close. The thickest SHBM I have is .277 (no finish). :D

I have a .300 Straight Steel Heart and a true .3125 Straight Badger, a Triple Grind, the Infamous Fat Bastard.

There are true .3125 Steel Hearts, down Deep in the Black Holes of collections.

Some were sold as A-2 I remember a couple Sold as INFI, as was this Fat Bastard of mine with the Hole type Handle Fasteners

i don't belong in this thread    these are secrets that belong to ones much wiser and ancient than me... :foot:

Good to hear from you again Andre. Has Mulder called yet on that triple grind SHBA???? LOL!!!! :D

The one on the Far right.

Edidted to add

This is an old picture, The 2nd from the right is the First Busse knife ever to have the Hole type Handle fasteners and is Back with The Son of mine that originally purchased it at the Lav Vegas Y2K Prep show in the Fall of 1999, and the middle one was sold to a Member of this forum a year or two ago, I recently purchased one for my wife out of the same batch.

Randucci,

Nope, But all of the offers I get when I post pictures is one of the reasons I have not posted pictures the last few years.

For general information Jerry used to prefer when possible to make any Triple Grinds on the Thickest stock available, ha said it made to easier to do.

Andre,

Great pics as always.
Thanks for sharing.

I'll go back to the dungeon and sulk now. :grumpy:

Finish adds pretty close to 0.02 to a blade. and a BBSHSH is not INFI, so in this discussion of INFI blades, I'd like to see an old straight handle that measures out to a true 5/16 with no coating. Hell, I bet that there isn't one that measures out to 0.31" at the ricaso with no coating.

This one borders on a wanted to buy thread which belongs in the exchange.

joebobx, it seems to me, that you are asking what other knives Busse made in 5/16" stock that are smaller than the FBM. If this is the question then I don't think you crossed the line. Now if you said someone sell me a 5/16" stock Busse that is smaller than the FBM, I'd move this in a heart beat. Also it will get bounced if anyone starts making offers to sell here as well. Take it to PM or email.

I still suggest you make a post in the wanted to buy section now as it seems to me that these guys have covered the bases on the issue.

Hey progunner sorry for the mix up I'm not asking if anyone wants to sell one just tryin to find out about different models

Ok,

The Coating does indeed add thickness.

On my Fat Triple Grind the thickness at the back of the knife just ahead of the handle is .315, at the Butt it is .313 and at the front Talon hole it is .311

I have sold at least one Fat Badger that had no coating, I do not at this time remember, nor do I have the knife here to Measure the thickness.

The Vast Majority of the so called 5/16 knives I have seen are .300 or less and are coated knives.

That being said I have seen at least 5 Badgers and 2 Steel Hearts that while coated indeed Mike out at .3125 or bigger, I remember this from my time as a dealer, when I get moved and get my notes out of storage I can get in touch perhaps with a couple of these folks and get them to put a dial micrometer on the knives in question.

Till then I will have to go with the knife that I have, I am not at this time willing to strip the coating to check the thickness, I think maybe the thickness of the coating is in Thousandths,.002 as opposed to hundreths .02

But part of that would relate to flow and runs possibly making thick spots as well, I do remember flow lines on a few knives, there are no flow lines on my Fat Badger.

This is my Badger and while there may be others like it(Only one I think) This one is mine. (Think, "This is my rifle")

The Nuclear Moash has the thickness you are looking for, but they're pretty tough to come by.

Man, YOU SUCK:D

With interest high about the Badgers, and the fact that I do not know how to reuse the pictures here, to put them in Mulders 16 badger Thread, then this will just have to do.
