5, 4, 9, 9, 4, 5 ???

A lot of us have received the old stock 5s; but the laser logo'd, rougher coated 5s are out there - you could get one. Since I planned on using my 5s primarily for food, I stripped them. I wouldn't expect much wear/flaking in that line of duty; but, at the same time, the coating seems out of place (to me) on a dedicated food knife.

I didn't realize the laser ones were ever produced. I guess I'll wait and see what shows up.

Ok. Now that you've made your choice I wanna see you try and box this dude..

I totally would have fought that guy. But unfortunately, I promised a bout to this one instead.

Darn. Maybe next time. Or never.

Yeps, old HQ utes don't do too bad a job..

I miss my '74 Ranchero, first car I ever owned and kept it until an accident in 2011. Tow truck driver that hauled it off said last time they got a Ranchero an Aussie bought it sight-unseen and had it shipped it down under. I like to think it's clobbering roo's with a huge brush guard somewhere in the outback.

Personally I have to suggest a slightly different game plan - if buying the 9 first is financially viable for you then guess what? you can instead buy the 4 and the 5 in one shot! so in my opinion I would order the 4/5 combo first since that is the most time sensitive, then a 15 (because who can beat the $42 price tag) then get the 9 after that - it'll be around a lot longer than the rest, and frankly, the 4 is a chopping beast

The price tag isn't the problem. It's justifying the need for each to that lady o' mine.

The 15 I have and the 5 on the way "are just kitchen knives, babe. Yeah, I know I already had Zwillings kitchen cutlery, but these are for indoor/outdoor kitchening."

The 16 on the way "is for that camping trip coming up, honey-bear."

And either the 4 or the 9 or both will be "for chopping firewood to keep you warm, sweet angel love."

I planted that seed today, talking about all the wet firewood we got stuck with last year. "I should really get a knife to split that wood and get to the dry inside. Did you know you could do that, rainbow sunshine of my life?"

"Yes," she said, "Everyone knows that."

Now, only 3 more months of dropping hints until she thinks the BK9 was her idea!

If the price isn't a concern, then why do you have to justify the purchase?

The 5 came today. Roll stamped. Had to use it to persuade a couple of limes to get in my sotol. No rush to strip it, but I probably will after I see how well my stripped 15 holds up.

This was my first larger sized Becker, and I gotta say that I like it in my hand.

So, three Beckers have now been ordered. Two are in (5, 15). And the third (16) is still with Dexwithers. Does anyone know what he's up to? He suddenly disappeared from the forums and stopped responding to emails. Vacation?

Here's the new steel with her little sister.

That once-even dark patina isn't what she used to be. But that's okay with me. I like a lady with character.
