Here's the next user vid from the ranch. Tim gives a break down on the TTKZ, KZ2, FBMLE, BWM, and Basic 11 and rates them for his own comfort and utility. Each knife gets about a minute to do its worst to this poor piece of driftwood. There's also a hand comparison, for those who don't know how big Tim's XXL paws are. Enjoy!

Wow... awesome review sir! thank you for that. I think i need one of them there basics

Enjoyed the video. I also thought the knife test and video with your wife made for some quality time together!

Thanks for the vid! I wish an NMFBM would have been involved.

I agree about the KZ2 handle. It's just not very comfortable and for people with medium/ smaller ish hands like me it's hard to find a comfortable grip.

I still think the .25 NMFBM is king. When I used it side by side with the B11 and dogfather it blew them both out of the water. I'd like to see how it stacks up to the KZ proto or TT.

That is awesome!!! Great review!!! Love those Khukris! Thanks for taking the time to put it together for us :)

MAKE IT A STICKY!!!

:D

Great job, man... thanks for the work. I just love to see those choppers get used... awesome vids!

There is still some room left on that piece of driftwood. We can do a follow up vid with some requests :)

Let us know, hogs! If we have one destined for (ab)use, we'll do it :) If not, you can always loan us yours ;)

Unfortunately we don't have an NMFBM :(

Glad to hear it :) And yes, we're very romantic, testing knives together in the wilderness. Ah, the good life ;)

You guys rock! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Love the vid, and hope you do more.

For everyone comparing a NMFBM and a B11- please pull out a scale. Yes, a NMFBM might win pure choppability (although with handle comfort I don't subscribe), hiking then chopping is the test I put stock in. Weight matters and cuts both ways. Just my thought

Nice set of choppers. You said in the video the KZ2 was uncomfortable... Can you elaborate on that? was it the shape of the handle? the flared end?

Weight does matter, ALOT, especially weight to performance. Even after being tired from chopping with all the heavier blades I was able to beat all but the TTKZ with the lightweight B11.

Regarding the NMFBM: I have not yet tried the thinner .25 NMFBM's for an extended chopping test, but the thicker .27-.29 versions for their similar weight could never outperform the TTKZ for me so they were sold. I am certainly willing to try out a thin one if someone would be willing to loan me one for a chopping comparison. ;)

The same NMFBM before I used it, then stripped it and made the handles more comfortable. 35.30 oz

Compared to this TTKZ very similar weight 36.35 oz

In my hand, the KZ2 handle is too straight, too long with too much vibration (though not as much as the BWM for me) & lateral twist, especially right after you get done using the super comfortable TTKZ grip with none of those issues. Then you have to watch for the back end coming up and hitting you in the wrist, however if you choke back on that part it switches to poking you in the palm... traditional? yup :), necessary? nope :(. It is still a great blade and a great chopper in it's own right  so long as you don't ever try out the TTKZ. :p
