5" Chopper?

Bow about the Graham Knives Knaxe. It has a 3 1/2" blade and was designed to be both a knife and a hatchet.

Gosh. Holy bold statement Batman. I would assume that you have used all of the other knives in that size range for comparison?

I have no doubt that it is a good chopper and I'm not trying to be a dink, but might there be some knife out there, around the same size, that could outperform it?

I will admit though, for the price, it does seem like an excellent suggestion.

Good point Kbog, I may have gotten a little overzealous there. I own seventeen knives in that size range, and have used a few others that friends own. I have played with them nearly as hard as Mr. Stamp (no bricks, and only a few nails lol), and, of those, the BK2 Companion is by far and away the best chopper. Is that better? I will have to stay away from such sweeping statements in the future. :D

As to better choppers in that size range, the Graham knives unit pictured above might be better, and it is probably 3-5x the price (just guessing here). So, I would guess that I should put a price restriction in place on my opinion as well.

Although not as heavy-hitting as the Campanion, my Becker Crewman made quick work of a small blown-down tree last summer.

I can't believe that it's not okay to use an ordinary hatchet where you live, but you could walk around with a rather military looking Becker strapped to your leg; outrageous!

I had a feeling you may have some experience in this size range! :D

Your new statement is great and with that experience to back it up, it makes the suggestion of the Companion even better.

Ohhhh boy, the knaxe is something though huh? Love it.

What's even more ironic is that CCW/CHL for handguns is common here and long guns are legal to carry in the vehicle without any type of permit. I'm in Texas by the way but the hatchet restriction is not a state law. It's a law in a local municipality the I frequent for outdoors activities. There are some strange old farming and ranching related laws in various areas of Texas (and probably everywhere for that matter). For example, unless this law just changed in the past couple years, it is illegal to carry wire cutters in Fort Worth. :) Anyone with some knowledge of ranching history can probably firgure out why that law was enacted. 'Dern cattle rustlers. :D The whole hatchet thing is irrelevant anyway because I wouldn't (and don't) carry one even where they are legal.
