5 dollar flea market find (bucklight 442)

I've heard that half of the Bucklites are damaged by a blade replacement attempt. Getting back to the point (lolol!) just reprofile the blade and use it. A toolbox Buck is still a Buck.

yeah I think bucksway is right on this one. they'll just send a back a different current product...which is okay if one doesn't care with that. I doubt they'll do a blade replacement on this one...

unless ya know they got a box of old blades from discontinued models sitting around?
Yes.. completely understandable... the blade (what remains of it) looks identical to those on a new 112.... didn't know I'd that was a possibility....

well Preston did get a 110 blade replaced in his bucklite....so he has experience on it....I was going by typical company logic of labor costs vs. new product cost. appears I was wrong.......guess if ya get the right person and get to chat with them maybe, anything is possible.

also, apologies for the off topic jokes and such in your thread......

In a slight twist to BennyBlade's dilemma, a few years back I replaced a broken 112 blade with a 442. I had fished a couple unfinished blades out of the bay and made the swap. Then on a different 112 with a broken tip, I reprofiled the blade. I like how they both turned out.

I removed the rivet and the factory installed the new blade.
You have a truly unique knife now! That was nice of Buck to do that for you considering the 442 was never produced with a clip point blade. Seems like a departure from the norm for Buck. Glad to see it.

I love those old 442's. First knife I ever had with a pocket clip. Still use it and carry it often.
