5 favorite traditional carry knives ?

It's obvious that I've turned into a total GEC fanboy lately, but here goes:

GEC 77 Barlow - I just can't stop carrying this. I'm totally blown away by how perfectly functional this knife is. Love the natural canvas micarta

New GEC Texas Camp knife - It's still new, and I can't keep my hands off of it.

GEC Soda Scout - It's just so handy and easy to carry. The sheepsfoot is perfectly executed.

GEC/Smith&Sons Mudbug - My outdoor chore knife of choice.

Camillus/Remington R-4 - One of my all-time favorites.

Honorable mention goes to the Wenger Standard Issue - So much perfection in one knife.

Nice idea for a thread. Here's my 5 favorites. Meaning one of these is most likely to be in my pocket on any given day.
Left to right: Case/Bose Wharncliffe Trapper, Case/Bose Norfolk, Joel Chamblin Wharncliffe Trapper, Jerry Halfrich Small Rounder and Brent Cramer Lanny's Clip Jr.

All beautiful knives Gary, except that Jerry Halfrich Small Rounder... seems strangely out of place. You know, the only shadow pattern and that atrocious elongated shield simply causes it to appear a complete misfit when compared with the other proper knives. I think the best thing for everyone involved would be for you to remove it from the group. If you remove it to Michigan it will never cause you any undue distress again. Since I'm in Michigan I'd be willing to store it for awhile until a better home can be found for the poor misfit. Let me know what you think. :D

Thanks for the nice comments!
Nice try on the Halfrich, James! ;) :thumbup:

This list changes frequently...
In no particular order:

Northwoods whittler

Blackwood Liverpool (vintage Sheffield)

Ulster Sleeveboard

Northwoods Canoe

Joseph Rodgers pen

Honorable mention goes to my Chamblin ivory whittler

That Chamblin Whittler is super nice, Ernie!

Thanks! It is so nice that I don't carry it much for fear of dinging it up... It is my "special occasion" traditional:thumbup:

'85 CaseXX camp knife - this is not the first one I reach for; it's the backup that goes with me regardless of others.
Parker Little Bandit - Personal favorite folding knife.
Bone Handled One Arm Razor Trapper - off brand, cheap made, but the one handed option is really a plus, and I don't mind resharpening now and then.
Boker Jumbo Congress - somehow I end up doing more carpentry with this one than all the others.
Buck 112-1 - when my hands won't hold a small knife (nerve damage), this one feel so good, opens easy, locks back for safety, and oh so sharp.
H.M. - Robeson Shuredge TL-29 - h.m. because this one doesn't fully belong to me. Snap so strong it's almost dangerous, tight & smooth bolster lock, made for work; hell, this one was made for a war.

My five favorite EDC knives (doesn't include the Buck 112, 110, and fixed blades I carry when hunting or while on the farm or in the woods working). Ole Jack (GEC) jackknife, Case 5318 and Schrade 897UH Medium Stockman, older Buck 303 Cadet, and a Case 6380 Whittler. OH

Case Texas jack. A working hand me down from my grandfather.
Gec 66 jack. Nothing bad i can say about this knife. I wish gec would build a 3.75Ish 66 with sunken joints and no half stops. this is a very comfortable knife just wish I had a bigger on too.
Gec 15 navy knife (usaf c17 airplane knife) I carry this in my flight suit pocket. It gets used to cut a lot of cord and rigging lace.
Gec 47 viper my typical back pocket knife
Gec 77 spearpoint Barlow. Shares back pocket rotation time with the 47.
Honorable mention (only because it is a fixed blade)
Lt Wright campmuk. My most carried and used knife. It has replaced all of my modern folders. I carry this knife along with a slip joint and have never looked back. Not having a knife in my front pocket is liberating.

Just five! Well, in no particular order;

Firstly;
For pure utility - the Vic electrician wins every time.

Secondly;
One that started an obsession. My first #25.

Thirdly;
This one was sourced from the great Charlie himself. I lived for many years in the Northern Irish province of Ulster. My wife is a born n' bred Belfast gal, an Ulsterwomen with red hair and a temper to match. We went to all the home games we could when we lived together in Belfast at Ravenhill (now frustrting and commercially renamed the Kingspan Stadium) home of Ulster Rugby. Until I joined the forum I was unaware of the Ulster cutlery company - not from Ulster but sharing the name. Gives me great pleasure to carry this Ulster jack.

Fourthly;
This came as a surprise. I wanted a 3.5" congress pattern and found this Moore Maker. I didn't expect to use it as much as I do but it's a cracking piece. I love congress patterns.

And fifthly;
My absolute favourite, hands down is my beloved #61.

Honourable mention must go to my peanut. I don't really think of this one much because its always there when I'm on duty. It stays in my uniform trousers pocket and now that I think about it, it's carried significantly more than any other.

I was packing up my stuff the other day, I just so happened to leave these 5 out to use until I made my move. So I figured these must be my favorite 5(but that can/ will change at the drop of a hat).
In no particular order:
NF 2 blade barlow, Northwoods Presidential, GEC 15 single blade sheepsfoot in ebony and all steel, 71 bull nose, and JK Toby's knife(my only custom)
MTOSHcT.jpg

My honorable mention goes to the Buck 110.

Five favorites for today (L to R)

Case - Sowbelly A pattern I just recently tried and found it to be a fantastic fit for me.
Northwoods - Indian River Jack Equal End patterns just look cool and remind me of my Grandfather.
Victorinox - Bushcrafter Thin as a single blade yet contains a saw and a awl.
Great Eastern Cutlery - Blade Forum Knife 2014 Possible the best single blade I've ever come across.
Canal Street Cutlery - Pinch Lock A joy to use, easy open, secure lock, slim in pocket with genuine American Chestnut.

I'm pretty much down to just two, which I carry every day.

1. Victorinox Alox Cadet
2. Victorinox Alox Mini Champ (on key ring)

others that every once in a while see some pocket time:

3. Case Peanut, Bermuda Green Bone SS
4. Case Large Stockman, Purple Haze Bone SS (weekends when I want a bigger knife)

The #5 slot is hard to pin down. Probably some Case Medium Stockman pattern or another. I have several that are interchangeable and just whichever one catches my eye, when I am in the mood for something other than the above.

Redsparrow, your knife photo composition is simple but very eye-catching - nicely done! OH

Man, there are some great knives in this thread. I wanna play. :D

Five seems like an awfully high number, but it was surprisingly hard to narrow it down. Narrowly missing out are the GEC 77 barlow and Queen Ruple trapper, not to mention some fixed blades that just don't get carried in the winter and therefore are hard to call favorite carry knives even though they're some of my favorite knives.
