I don't have a lot of fixed blades (I'll be rectifying that soon), so choosing again from what I actually own, I would go with my:
- Morakniv Robust (this knife is a surprising value at right around $15)
- Tramontina 18" machette
- Shun Chef's knife
- Shun Paring knife
Oh, crud! I'm out of knives. Time to go shopping! I have a thing for a Seax, but have not really found a modern version that does it for me.

1. Spyderco Street Beat - For EDC.
2. ESEE 4 - for a smaller fixed blade in the woods.
3. Dark Timber Honey Badger - An awesome, do-it-all fixed blade for the woods, that looks great and has great steel.
4. BK9 - All the chopper I need.
5. Busse TGLB - It is cool and fun.

Thus one is a lot harder than the folder thread. If I had to cut back to five, it would be:

1. Fiddleback Forge Bushfinger - Woods.
2. Fiddleback Forge Runt - People friendly EDC.
3. My old K-Bar - Sentimental
4. Fiddleback Forge EDK - Awesome EDC.
5. Fiddleback Forge Sneaky Pete - Guilty pleasure.

....Long utility, big tank of a knife, worrystone, midsize utility, smaller less-threatening utility. Can’t think of any realistic situations that couldn’t be addressed by some combination of those.
Pretty much the way I view a long term 5 fixed blade knives in terms of general size and purpose. I would like to add a beastly blade for chopping, but frankly what I use is called a machete the most, so I think I have that base covered too. Yeah. A machete is a type of knife.

I am almost there....

I own:

ESEE 4
ESEE 6
Buck 119
Grohmann 60th Anniversary Canadian Belt Knife

I want:

A larger Bradford in M390 or maybe an ESEE Junglas II.

1. crkt hunt n fisch
2. Western Black Beauty F28
3. Kbar military issue
4. varusteleka 140mm size.

Big Chris Wolverine
Big Chris Hunter
Carothers Behemoth Chopper
Carothers HDFK
Phil Wilson

I have a plan. It'll be a few months before I can add pics to this thread. The fixies are the main users. Four on the way.

I only have 3 until I get my Phillip Patton bowie.

I call this the Indoor Problem Solver. Blade is marked "Windlass Steelcraft" and was a gift from a friend in my 12 step fellowship. I put jade G10 on it and gun blue. It sits 6" from me in my couch, along with the other items. This makes up my home defense plan A.

Cattaraugus 225Q inherited from my grandfather who carried it in Europe while serving in the 20th Armor Division. It was in crap condition so I completely tore it down and modded/restored it.

I'm not really into fixed blades, so this will be easy.

1. Buck Vanguard Pro
2. A nice Fiskars hatchet
3. A.G. Russell 10" chef's knife
4. Zyliss cheese knife
5. A.G. Russell 4" paring knife

As I don’t own folders & only own fixed blades-

1 CPK Behemoth Chopper
2 CPK HDFK otherwheres known as NASK
3 Busse Park Ranger
4 Busse HG55 MO
5 Busse TM DSF

Woot woot! Now we're talkin.

1. Busse Combat Basic 9

2. Busse Combat Anniversary Mean Street

3. Busse Combat Anniversary Steel Heart

4. Allan Blade MEUK

5. John Greco Companion

All bases covered from big whompers to EDCs and everything in between. I'd be just fine with those 5.
