5 inch fixed blades under $60?

If I were you, which I'm not, but if I were.
(Assuming your being new here asking this question about a $60 knife means you don't have a $%×& ton of experience on knives, don't want to drop a $%x& ton of $ on a knife, and don't have at least a few quality ones sitting around),

I would get a;
Tramontina Machete for a real chopper
Swiss Army Spartan (or drop a few $ for a huntsman)

That would run you right around $40

Then a Mora Companion HD gives you a adequate mid sized camp knife, all under $60.

Or spend about $15-20 out of pocket for something like a
Cold steel Peace Maker II (4116)
Boker Magnum Elk Hunter (440a)
Kabar Marine Hunter
*or any of the 2-12xx-x series
(All 1.4116)
Buck 0102 or 0119 (420hc)
Condor Kephart/Stratos (1075)
Mora Bushcraft

Something along those lines that suits your tastes, and for only $20 out of pocket, you get 3 quality blades that suit all your basic blade needs;
Small slicey folder for slicing (+some in a SAK)
Mid sized adequate "camp" knife of your taste.
Large Machete for real chopping if needed.

Or, if you just want a big do-all choppy knife, I'd 2nd the bk5 magnum camp.
(I love mine)

If 5" is the magic number, a KaBar kraton handled mark I would do the trick,

OR a Boker Arbolito hunting knife.

with enough $ left over to throw in a small soft Arkansas stone for touch ups.
(Or a small smith's pull through sharpener
if you lack the sharpening finesse/patience of a stone).

I just ordered a Condor Final Frontier, for well under $60. Don't have it in my hands yet, but gets very good reviews. It's a modified clip point with 4.5" blade, 1075 CS, plus micarta scales & one of Condor's great leather sheaths.
