These are kind of a departure from my normal iteration of this style, and were made by request after numerous discussions with a good friend and customer that felt that the full-distal taper versions I've made in the past feel 'whippy' in the hand (his words, not mine - I didn't think they felt whippy at all!). At his request, these are also thicker behind the edge than I normally make them. I prefer them to be serious slicers, and he apparently wants to make sure he's safe in the event that an oak tree accosts him. 
The tangs are tapered to reduce weight and also increase clearance from your abdomen when carrying in my kydex IWB concealed carry sheath (included in the price of the knife). I've left the blade full thickness to offer more 'beef'. They are flat ground (almost saber ground) with a hand satin finish, and crowned, mirror polished spines.
Made from .25" thick 1084 high carbon steel. Handle wrap is resin soaked for improved grip and durability, and of course black stingray skin under the wrap. Point of balance despite the lack of distal taper is right at the forward edge of the Turk's Head knot, so it handles 'faster' than you might expect.
This photo was taken previous to the edges being ground, so please understand that the finished knife will have an edge on it!!!
