a while back, i purchased a bunch of tusk sections of pre-ban elephant ivory.
after cutting some of them into scales, i realized i had enough to last a very long time.
i'm selling this last chunk so i can invest in some other materials.
i paid $225/pound, so this (approximately) 5 pound piece cost me around $1125.
i'm asking $800 for it.
that's only $160/lb.
i can't imagine you'll find a better price anywhere for "grade a" ivory.
this piece will yield dozens of nice scales.
it's very well cured and there are no cracks.
take a look at the photos for details on the size.
weight is approximate, because my bathroom scale isn't precise.
however, i compared it with a 5 lb weight, and they registered the same.
someone with some spare time and a band saw will be well rewarded.
