I haven't made one of these in a while, but the inspiration took, so I ran with it. :D

This is my 5" kwaiken, with a STRONG distal taper, and tapered tang under the wrap, in 3/16" A2 tool steel. Full flat grind, hand satin finish, beveled spine. The handle is 4-3/4" long, and I've added a special material under the black rayskin to add a bit of hand-filling bulk - but not too much, to try to keep the profile slim.

Overall length is just a tad over 10".

Total weight on this blade is SIX AND ONE QUARTER OUNCES.

A2 can be some pretty tough stuff, no doubt, but I've intentionally shaved off as much mass and weight as possible to increase the odds of the end user carrying this daily. It is NOT a prybar. It's a last ditch self defense tool, and in conjunction with my ultrasuede-lined, inside-the-waistband Kydex sheath, it can go unnoticed and carried comfortably under just a shirt. I wore one similar to this for many years on a retail sales floor, for ten hours a day. I make plenty of others styles of these, but most become awkward or even imprint simply due to their weight, and end up not being carried, which defeats the entire purpose of the knife! The lined sheath retains the knife with stunning surety, and is completely silent on draw and reinsertion. If you're careful to keep grit from entering it, it will also never scratch the blade.
