$50 Knife for a possible Knife Knut convert....

Go to your local Oshman's and see if they have the Spyderco Renegade. It's only 50.00. They also have a Cold Steel Recon Tanto and Master Hunter for the same price. Good luck.
 
Is he into fixed blades or folders?

If he's into big fixed blades I'd go with a Becker. They are one heck of a deal. In fact, I'd consider them the best deal going in big production blades right now.

If he's into smaller fixed blades, you might look into something from Cold Steel or just scan the for sale forums for a good deal on something else.

If he's into folders I'd check out Spyderco, CRKT, Kershaw, Outdoor Edge, etc...

One thing to add, he's decided on a combo edge.

The Endura is looking good so far, although all of the selections listed here are good ones.

He wants lightweight, so the 50/50 Endura w/FRN slab sounds like the right fit.

Whaddya think?
 
I'd have to go with the BM mini Griptilian too.
A spyderco Delica would be good - just tell your friend that if he likes the Delica that he can get its big brother the Endura.
I really love the Native in S30V.
 
The 50/50 FRN Endura sounds great. You can't go wrong with that. Any talk of going wrong with that is an urban legend.
