Just as the title reads I got 50 big ones for easter and what better thing to invest in than a folding knife?! So which one? $50 bucks or less. Looking for a "modern" folder

Most of the budget Kershaws will be in that range and are great for the money. Even the USA made Blur and Leek can be had for that much. The Spyerco Tenacious and Delica are also great and can be found for that (Delica usually a little more but search around)

As mentioned, the Leek is a fantastic knife, mine goes everywhere with me. I love my RAT Model 2 as well, great knife for $35

Wow! Thank you!

+ 1 for the dragonfly if you like folders on the smaller end of the spectrum. Larger folders have their place, but there is something very special about a capable sub 3" folder.

No problem, I maintain a list of <$50 <3" folders for my own high value needs. :) I won't really buy a knife I can't legally carry, and for me $50 is more than sufficient for a quality blade. Of those recommendations I must say I'm not really a fan of Spyderco's blade holes (sorry guys!). I would personally go Zing black tanto ($35 on Kershawguy website), Cold Steel Mini Recon 1 ($35 Amazon), Cold Steel Voyager Medium ($34 ebay), or ESEE Zancudo ($30 Amazon/ebay).

There are plenty to pick from. Kershaw Scrambler,Clash,Volt 2,Thermite, ect. Also Spyderco Delica or Dragonfly. You can get those for around $50. Kabar Doziers are also a good buy for the money. I would just go to a knife site where you can look at the pictures and specs and see which one fits your needs best. Good Luck! Kevin :D:thumbup:

I've been looking at the Kershaw Echelon

Honestly I had the Echelon for about a month and hated the thumbstuds, also after the first run i think Kershaw stopped doing the machined grove around the thumbstuds. The knockout and Piston are 100x the knife that the Echelon is.

Yeah it was hard but I found a grooved one and watched a couple of reviews and the only negative was the thumb studs

Honestly, I hated the thumb hole at first until I got the Manix2 and now I'm in love I use my middle finger to open it instead of my thumb though

I owned a Delica 4 for a long time and it was an incredible lightweight EDC slicer. However, to me it just felt too fragile. I like my EDC to be sturdy and capable for emergency use situations in which I may have to abuse my knife. I can just imagine the blade snapping right off because of huge hole in it. It's just some budding OCD I guess lol.
