$50 to spend on a new one.

Buck Northshore - around $40 at Sportsmans Warehouse - Kershaw Mini-cyclone - a great knife. Any particular use part of this decision?

Well i decided to treat myself and got the Endura 4 and a Vex. Since I don't have a Spyderco or Benchmade I figured it be a good way to get started. I think a mini grip is next.

Why don't you save your money up and buy a good knife. My buddy was telling me how his uncle had alot of knives. I showed him some of my collection. He said, "my uncle has a bunch of shit, all junk, these are real nice knives". He said he would rather have just a couple of my knives versus all the cheap knives his uncle had. It's just not worth it, you get what you pay for. A frigging broken bottle will cut, if you want to get technical. So will sharp slate. Get a nice knife you can be proud of. Sharpen it, oil it. use it. That's what it's all about. Nobody likes a cheapskate. Once you get that kind of reputation, it's hard to shake it.

You can get very high quality knives for under $50. Kershaw, Spyderco/Byrd Benchmade, Boker, and many other makes have excellent knives in this price range.

Only people "into" knives would consider $50 cheap. You should see the reactions I get from friends/family when I tell them I paid $50-$100+ for a knife.

A trip to Wally-world might still land you a Spyderco S30V Native for <$40. They still carry the Buck 503 Prince and 110 Folding Hunter for $25/ea - get them both! All three are great examples of quality US-made knives for <$50.

Spending someone else's money is almost as much fun as spending your own.

In addition to the foregoing, consider:

- Case Butterbean (link) in the flavor of your choosing (I like bone stag);

- Case Sodbuster (regular or Jr.):

a ti-lite is also pretty nice, fast as greased lightning on the open and strong lock

those can run you about 45-60 in the 4inch variety

Here are some suggestions for $50 or less:

1. Benchmade Vex - G10
2. Kershaw Cyclone - Speedsafe AO
3. Boker Subcom F, Trance or Hyper - G10
4. CRKT M16-G Special Forces - G10
5. Spyderco Native - S30V steel

A G Russell featherlite folder, Boker M Type, Fallenkniven U2, Kershaw Skyline. The U2 may be tough to find unless you spend a little more than $50 but the rest are easy to find at that price. GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

I have been carrying a Case Sodbuster Jr in SS for an edc the past couple of weeks. It is shaving sharp after stropping it some on a leather belt loaded with Mother's Aluminum Wheel polish. Cost me $18 at Lowes.

Wonder why I still am on the lookout for other knives?

Get a Boker Trance and have money left over for a KeyCom.
Better yet, buy them from CLB himself on ebay.

I'd save man, I had like $20 to spend on a spyderco ladybug, but I saved $99:D and bought my first RAT. Which might just pwn whatever knife you get around/under $50...but get a recon scout for like 11 more bucks.
