50 years ago today.

And I was 3 1/2 years old.

Ten years later I was watching the Kennedy assasination and 5 or 7 days of nothing but news and finally the funeral.

Something you alway remenber where you were and what you were doing when you got the news, like people 25 years younger remember 9/11/01 or those 15 years older remember hearing of Pearl Harbor.

Days that affected or changed the world to something it hadn't been viewed or percieved as before.

Yep, that's me in the pix.

Supply office was midships main deck next door to personnel office. For a few months I was the only storekeeper aboard. We were billeted for three, including a chief or first class. I was a Seaman and was doing the job of all three. Did I complain about it? Every waking hour of everyday.

Did it do me any good?

Yep. Got me the reputation of being a hardhead.

Bill, I see that hasn't changed much. ;)

First one I remember was Challenger. :(

I was around for Nixon and the hostages in Iran, but didn't understand what was happening. (Living history)

I was six months old. Eating, sleeping and pitchin fits. Amazing how little I've changed.:)

I don't understand speeches in the middle of a knife fight. Too much TV for bad guys, where they get their best lines?

T'weren't much of a fight really.:)
I was keeping the story short. It warn't much, thankfully, but could have been. We were just a bunch of boys doing what boys do, or did back then, and as usual things can easily get carried away.
One boy was doing something to me that I didn't like, I asked him to quit and he didn't at which point I made him quit.
Then the bigger and older boy took me down to the ground in defense of the one I made quit.
I didn't really want to cut him but would have to keep from getting hurt myself.
He had to make himself look good at getting off without hitting me with the chain.
Had I of not had the knife at his gut he would have hurt me. I haven't heard of him for years and years, but the boy I made quit messing with me is about as worthless as tits on a boar hog.
He has been in and out of trouble with law enforcement to this day. Way back when he was a gangsta wannabe.
Could be he still is or he could be a member of one of the minor gangs around Tulsa.
I'm glad I got out of Turley when I did or I could still be involved with that kind of crap along with those kinds of people.
I do recognize that I truly have been protected in many ways over the years and very much appreciate it!!!!:D
Things could've been much, much worse for me.:(

Gangsta Wannabes. Pop music which encourages young people to act criminally. What a world. I had my fill of punk gangbangers when I lived in CAlif. Defend yourself from one and you have 12 to deal with.

.. .. ...

I was 6 or so when Kennedy was killed. My son was 5 or 6 when the Twin Towers fell. I told him then to remember it, it was a day the world changed forever.
