$500 Budget, What Would You Buy?

The Curtiss Nano is also something to look at if you love the Techno. Looks like lots of different finishes, anodizing, graphics, etc you can get, really personalize it.

Brian Tighe makes some nice knives in that price range as well.

I ended up going with the Les George ESV with an orange scale. Now I need to liquidate the Sebenza and Techno. I am thinking that the next knife is going to be an F3 3.5"...

That ESV looks awesome. Especially in orange. I may have to track down one of those for myself eventually.

You should definitely get an F3. My F3 and George VECP (and my new Leu Bluephin) are definitely my favorite knives (at the moment).

The F3 is pretty much everything I want in a knife, that being said, I am going to wait and see how I like the ESV. Seems like a good next knife since the Techno got so much pocket time and Sebenza stayed at home most of the time. If it is going to be ti, I like it to anodized.

There are lots of custom knife shops online that carry many custom maker knives.. do a search. I'd take your time and look at everything that is out there available and unavailable, then decide if you want to wait for exactly what you want or if just getting "something expensive" will suffice. You don't need to spend $600 to get a great knife, you can get those for $100. You spend $600 to get something special, so don't rush into it. For me, the fun is in the hunt. Just my .02

You are 100% correct. Right now I am in the "catch and release mode", trying to get a strong sense of the market and what I really like. I love the fact that knives are so liquid, and there is such a cordial group of enthusiasts.

Just picked up a Tango straight from Tim Britton, right under the 500 mark. He was great to deal with and the knife was perfect edc size. I usually dont go for 3.5"blades but I'm glad I picked it up.

Curtis f3 4"came the same day as the Tango, right now my favorite blade hands down.

You'll find lots of second hand "mint, or near mint" condition knives as well as new ones on arizonacustomknives.com. I've had good experiences buying from them and if you're quick you can often snag a good deal.
