$500 Folder?

As others have mentioned, the CRK Sebenza 25 gets you a lot of the Umnumzaan in a more familiar Sebenza form.

My vote for a hard user is the DGG SMF. I'd look at the CRK Insingo as well. Just a great handy knife. If you do the DGG just get a nice belt sheath and you'll be GTG. Few knives beg to be used like a Strider.

I have looked into the Dua and Satu but they just weren't for me. I'm leaving towards the Star-Tac or a Olamic Wayfarer in black/brown G10 I found. I would love to try a Curtis knife, but I couldn't find any in stock in my price range anywhere.

Go with the Strider if you want a work horse.

I carry a Strider as a secondary knife. If someone needs to borrow a knife, I hand it to them. I'm confident that they won't be able to duck it up. That should tell you something.

Just so you realize, once you pass $100 the more you pay the less you get as far as performance. Fit and finish may improve but performance goes up very little. Just my experience.

What are you going to use it for?
If you're going to beat on it and use the living daylights out of it every day, SMF DGG
If you want a balance of elegance, but less of a hard user, go with the Sebenza 25, the ergo's are amazing.

it's really something you have to decide for yourself, in this price range it's really about what appeals to you personally. none of them are really "better" than the others, it comes down to your taste.

Man, I've never heard of Olamic Cutlery before this post, and that Wayfarer is really nice!

The "Matt Diskin's satin carbon fiber folder" on their website is killer! They have a really good website also, top notch. The photos blow up so clearly, I think they have the best PHOTO presentation nf a knife website I've ever seen.

Hmmm...might gave to sell a couple of knives and get one of those if I can find one. :)

A large 21 should give you what you need. I can't pay that much for something and not use it. My 21 has seen use every day, and is as rock sold as the day it arrived.

zero tolerance

I would wait for some of their newer offerings to come out :) http://zt.kaiusaltd.com/knives

for me its the 0620 and the 0562. did I mention I carry an 0801 daily? why the extra cash for the cf0801 over the standard?

striders are nice, but at the price point you can't beat a quality ZT at or around $200. you break a blade or need a replacement its 30 for a regular production model.... LE models don't get blade replacement. Why pay 500+ for a production folder that is essentially the same thing? This is also coming from a guy who had 12 Strider folders at one point lol....... great product but not worth it in my opinion. your paying for the warranty.....

I just want to thank everyone for all of the recommendations. There are definitely some nice custom folders in my future, but for now I was able to snag an old pivot Star-Tac Umnumzaan.

I can't recommend the Wayfarer highly enough!

Hopefully I will be able to get my hands on the Diskin flipper soon. Been trying to get my hands on one.
