Well, fellas, I've been a Bladeforums member now for eight months, and I can't thank this great community enough for all that I've learned, for all the beautiful knives that are on display here, for all the expert advice on every topic from sharpening to camping tips to steel choices, etc. I come here for the entertainment, I come here for the education, and well... I come here for the heck of it :D

To show my thanks, and in accordance with BF tradition, here's my 500th post giveaway. I'm giving away a Ka-Bar short fighter with "Kar-Bar" job by knife maker John H Davis. The jimping he put on the spine is the best I've ever seen; it is smooth and shallow to give your thumb plenty of purchase and yet not develop hot spots. This is a personal favorite, so I hope the winner will enjoy this knife!

RULES:

1. You must have been a member at least as long as me (join date 07-13-2011)
2. You have to share one of your "rules of life" here in the thread

Sincerely,

Mag

Thanks for the opportunity. Please count me in!

one of my rules of life comes from an old saying "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Honest Abe.

I find this to be too true. Most of the time people, including myself, speak out of turn without first hearing all of the facts or jump to conclusions.

I'm in and my rule of life has been in my signature for a long time. "Treat others as you wish to be treated" Thanks for the chance and congrats on 500.

Just so turns out I joined 6 days after you I hope I can still be in the running!

My rule of life has always fallen under the very short quote "don't be penny wise and a dollar foolish"
To me this means don't just save to buy your newest want and to save for something tht should happen in the future.
I am almost 18 years old and this is helping me plan for my future

If 6 days after you can count for my qualification than thankyou you for the oppurtunity

Count me in! Thanks for the opportunity.

I've always held fast to "when in doubt knock em out".

No but really my biggest one is if it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't... trust your gut.

Thank you for the opportunity! One of the biggest "rules of life" I try to abide by is in my signature: "If you're going through hell, keep going." Never give up on anything that means something to you despite how difficult or "impossible" it may seem. Even when it seems you've reached absolute rock bottom, all that's left to do is get yourself together and climb back up. Thanks again.

gotta say this is one of the more original ideas for a contest. i like it. i'm in.

i usually go by a couple.. but to name one or two i would have to say 'live life the way you want it, not the way others want you to live it'. another one would be 'be honest'. short but simple.

Thanks for the chance.

My life rule "Dont start no S%*t there wont be no S&$T"

I'm in and thanks for the opportunity.

My rule for life is what goes around comes around. If you good, good will be done to you.

thanks man

rules of life if you are feeling down just remember that as sad as you are its because you felt that happy before and that you can be that happy again once you make it through this down

thanks for the chance and count me in.

one of my rules: only put things online that you wouldn't have a problem showing your mother.

I love me some ka bar action! I'd like a chance on this one. "It's a round world" ....Karma!

I have used this one with my sons often: "Remember the definition of insanity; doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results".
