Well, there’s always the next time I can convince myself I absolutely need a new knife.I'd go elk myself.
Agreed.I like elk that I like; but I'm too particular to risk buying unseen.
Just got confirmation that my buckeye Squire has shipped. I’ll post pictures when I have it!
For me, it's got to have symmetry, with a leaning toward minimal bark - though not necessarily smooth to the extent of that finger grooved example on the previous pageAgreed.
Lots of bark
...smooth that looks almost like bone, meh.
very nice example. She’s a beauty. Nicer fit and finish than my last custom shop knife, too.

I had the same issue with my last custom blade shop purchase. Well, first it was too loose and the blade dropped open; then when they fixed it the locking lever protruded. I would suggest sending it back to them; they will fix them, if you ask.I got mine a few days ago, but the lock lever sticks up when closed. I'm really disappointed, don't even feel like looking at it.
IIRC it was mentioned being discontinued in a thread here. I don't see it listed on their webpage so it must be gone for now. I'd call them and ask to make sure.I just discovered this thread and I LOVE the look of the buckeye burl! Did the Custom shop drop it because I can’t find it on their website?
