503 and 505 being retired....

In my opinion that’s sad. It’s another couple of knives that I never picked up because I figured they would always be around. I know a regular 505 I haven’t seen at any dealers in a long time.

I know Buck has to make what sells but it’s these old tried and true designs that I like.

Well, I did not hold out for very long. I already have a 505 CKS with Buffalo scales, no rivets. So I just ordered a 503 CSK with Buffalo scales, no rivets to match. Since I was on Buck's site, I went ahead and grabbed a plain Jane 503 Rosewood also.

I have one of the 55s, and while neat, it is too small for me to carry, so I've just never been interested in these little guys. They sure are beautiful, hopefully those folks wanting a custom version can get what they want before the door closes!

I'm kinda thinking they may just be taking them out of the custom shop and not out of the lineup completely...

That is how I read it. Just not in the custom shop any longer.
I’m a little confused on the phrasing of that ad. It kind of says both. No longer in the custom shop and moving them to the Vault.

The Vault comment implies that they won’t be available at all until or unless Buck decides to bring them back.

I'm speculating, but they are removing them from custom shop, thats clear.....maybe they'll use the patterns for special runs down the road.

what is confusing is the regular production ones. those cut off or continuing? the way it reads they arent discontinued.....but that vault ref kinda weirdly implies it indirectly.....

but guess Vault as in can come back to custom shop down the road..

That's a shame.
I sure do love my CKS 505.

If the 055 isn't already in the custom shop that would be a cool one to add.
I'd really love to see the 102 woodsman in the custom shop.
It will most likely be something more modern I'm guessing.

The most ideal knife to add to the custom shop would probably be the 301 or 303 though.
The ability to leave off a blade or two, and for a good number of years the 300 series knives could stand to have a bit more attention to detail.
I know I'd certainly be interested in a CKS 303 if I could have it with just 1 or 2 blades.
