Thank you Bert! I'm starting to think that you can tell the bolster material by comparing it to the back spacer. Would it be fair to say that the back spacers have been stainless all along? If so, looking at (sorry for the photo quality) my 503's you'll see a slight tan or yellowing (tarnish?) of the bolsters of the two on the far right.

The uniformity of color in the 1994 and 1999 would make them stainless bolsters...? My other 500 series follows this pattern too. And, as you said, all of my 500 Dukes appear to be SS.
