Happy Saturday everyone,
I'm trying to decide on an old custom by John Greco, and while I've always had good experiences with his knives I'm unsure of the 5155H this one is listed as being made from. Obviously, it shares a similar composition to 5160, it's just that when I searched here, I only found a couple of mentions of it, and those weren't really talking about its use, just its existence. Popped on to swordforum and found nothing, popped onto knifeforums and found nothing, and so I'm just starting to wonder. Anyone have experience with this material?

It's probably very similar to 5160, just with less carbon. Personally, I prefer steels with more carbon than either of those steels. But that's just me. OMMV :)

5155H - .50-.60 C, .60-1.00 Mn, .60-1.00 Cr. The H steels are similar to the standard ones but are melted to Hardenability levels rather than just chemistry. It will be very similar to 5160.

Thanks much, gentlemen--I figured it was close to 5160, just wanted to make sure. Thought perhaps there was a definite reason I wasn't finding much about it on knife-related sites. :D
