here is a regular sized chopper/pack knife!! This is the same size as the one I carry on my hunting pack. Its large enough to do some real work to get you out of a bind, yet not so large and heavy as to be left back at the truck.

OAL- 20 1/2"

blade- 14" long, .210" thick, 2" wide

weight- 2 pounds even without sheath

steel- Aldo's 5160, Forged, with in-house differential heat treatment which includes double normalize, double anneal, double edge quench, and triple draw, for a great performing blade, that holds a great edge, and yet is easy to sharpen!

grind- a light convex grind, sharpened on a smiths diamond hone with micro bevels, to an agressive razor edge

finish-with a 400 grit machine finish under a scotchbrite belt finish, with light hamon, for a nice easy to maintain working finish

handle- dyed curly maple with brass pins and thong tube

guard- no guard on this one, but the handle is contoured to steer your hand away from the cutting edge

sheath- 11oz leather, hand stitched, clean, dyed, hot-waxed, loop is sized for a 2" belt. personally I keep a blade like this one strapped to my pack instead of on my belt

I did not test the blade for rope cutting, I did cut a 2x4 in half twice, and the edge would still shave. it also passed an edge flex test, and a nail test {where you clamp the blade edge up in a vise and place a common nail across the edge and hammer the nail until it is cut halfway through} and put about half my wieght {210 lbs}to flex the blade sideways in a vise to check for toughness.

$240 plus $20 for shiping/insurance to CONUS. I can accept paypal Joe357m@bresnan.net or money order.

1st to post "I'll take it" gets it!!!

joe I got the chopper you made me out in the field about 3 weeks ago... its one of the best pieces I own. And from the looks of these your chopper is only getting better.

I think I may need to start buying these as gifts to my operators and friends.

cheers

Thanks Guys!!

Jimbolate- I got your pp, she will be on her way to you in the morning!

Jamerolle- yes, kinda. I had made a few like this for myself awhile back, before the last Rambo movie came out, and I really liked what Mr. Hibben did with the point on that knife and the hammer finish. mine dont have as much of a point as his, as I dont normally stab with a chopper. and if I do a wrapped handle, I use leather to build up the sides, but they are similar.

Army- Im glad you are getting alot of good use out of yours!!!

Very nice. Have no real need for another large chopper, but if I'd arrived 20 min earlier, I would have snagged that.
