The eucalyptus is left over from a furniture project a few years ago. This too is a dense wood with lots of natural oil.

Forged from 1/4 inch 5160
Flat grind
Forge marks on the flats
Blade is hand sanded to 600 grit
Integral guard
Tapered tang and blade
Overall length: 7 3/4 inches
Blade: 3 3/4 inches
Riveted leather scabbard

That 'Lyptus really darkened up, did you use a stain or oil on it?

Just a little furniture wax to bring out the shine. This is eucalyptus grandis, a very dense and naturally oily wood.
 
Gerry, looking good!! Bet the shape would work great. No flat places in the cutting edge. That makes 'em slice and skin great.

Yeah, I hate when an edge gets a flat spot: it just won't cut worth a hoot:)
