Red oak with some figure? Go figure. I don't see this much curl in oak very often.

Flat grind
Machine finish with some forge marks
Red oak handle

Oops, forgot the photo of the scabbard. Note the texture near the top, not really a defect, just some character.

This looks like it might make a good kitchen knife, How's 5160 in the kitchen?

Ooooh... Sweet blade you have there, Sir! I might just have to give in ;) What's the thickness of the blade? Is it close to 1/4"?

VT Guy:
Yup, 5160 is great in the kitchen; touch it up now and then with a steel and it will work very well. However, the first time you cut a lemon or a tomato it will start developing a patina like your grandmothers old kitchen knives. If a patina bothers you stick with stainless in your kitchen.

Knives-n-stuff;
The blade was forged from 1/4 inch stock and will be slightly less than that at the guard area. I did pound in some texture so it got a little thinner there and has a distal taper down to the point and the butt.

Yes. If you want to try it out I will refund your money if you return the knife within two weeks even if it is used.
