Its been quite awhile since I posted a chopper here, so here is one I finished recently!
here is a youtube video of it and a couple others https://youtu.be/KyJieP_74V8
in the video this knife had a convex edge, I did go back and put a regular flat edge on it which is easier for most folks to sharpen
OAL- 16 5/8"
blade- 10 15/16" long, .260" thick at the spine, .062" measured 1/4" back from the edge, and .035 at the shoulder of the edge, 2" wide
steel- 5160, Forged, with in-house differential heat treatment which includes triple normalize, triple anneal, triple edge quench, and triple draw, for a great performing blade, that holds a great edge, and yet is easy to sharpen!
grind- a full flat grind, sharpened on a smiths diamond hone with micro bevels, to an agressive razor edge
finish- hammer finish on the spine, with a rough 220 grit machine finish on the bevels under a scotchbrite belt finish, for a rough and ready, easy to maintain working finish
handle- black canvas micarta, with brass corby bolts and thong tube, and g-flex
guard- no guard on this one, but the handle is contoured to steer your hand away from the cutting edge
sheath- 10oz leather, hand stitched, clean, dyed, hot-waxed, loop is sized for a 2" belt. personally I keep a blade like this one strapped to my pack instead of on my belt
before I put a handle on her, I cut a 2x4 in half twice, and the edge would still shave. it also passed an edge flex test, and put about half my wieght {210 lbs}to flex the blade sideways in a vise to check for toughness.
$375 plus $20 for shiping/insurance to CONUS. I can accept paypal Joe357m@bresnan.net or money order, or silver at spot price.
