deltablade- I use aquafortis first to bring out the curl and then a light coat of Fiebings British Tan leather dye wiped on and wiped off. Then danish oil until the wood won't absorb any more. Dry over night and buff/wax.This works well for me on maple.

Thanks, Raymond. Tree was on my property and was a storm blow down 2 yrs ago. While splitting for firewood, I noticed the curl in some pieces and started to save some in a separate pile. Pretty soon that pile was bigger than the one for firewood. Wife suggested I cull a little harder, but I did manage to salvage some. They've been waxed and drying in the attic since then. This is the second handle from that tree and it's turned out very well.

That reminds me of the one I got from you years ago Rick, very nice knife and sheath.

Is it still available?
