5160, wrought iron, and sambar stag

Here's the second finished knife from the batch of three 5160 blades that I just did. This one has a 6 5/8" blade, wrought iron fitting and a died zebrawood handle. Right around 11 1/2" overall.

That looks great Ray! Very nice.

I need to order one like it with more of a guard

Very nice knives!!

If you don't mind, what did you use to dye the zebrawood ?

Hey LeeRoy, I first put on a mix of black and brown leather dye. I wiped it off shortly after I put it on. I then put it in a mix of linseed oil, turpentine with a little leather dye for about an hour. Wiped off and then steel wooled it with 00000.

Unfortunately after I took this picture I notice where things had moved after it was glued up and almost set up so I took it apart. Went to redo it this morning and all was going well until I turned on the drill press. All I needed to do was just ream out the butt hole a fuzz. I now have a two piece handle.

Raymond

Sorry to hear about the two piece handle, I hope that it all works out in the end.

Thinks for the info.

I'm looking around the house right now for items, pets or children to sell so I can get this one for myself...

I do take trades. :D I'm at the point in my life where I think I'm going to out live my remaining teeth. Before I had a couple more pulled last week I asked the dentist if he would like to do some bartering. He seemed interested.

This is where I'm at with this next knife. Actually things aren't going to change much except I just want to rub the blade out one more time and etch again. I think its looking pretty good although I think that about all my knives at this stag.

Hey butt smoocher. :D Did I mention I screwed the handle up on the zebrawood one. I've got a piece of curly maple on it now but its just not the same. I've got an idea now that I think I can salvage most the original handle.

WOW. If I had something I thought you'd be interested in I'd offer a trade in a heartbeat. I absolutely love this knife.

so does that mean , i could trade a few of my teeth for that???:p

hell i just let my dentist yank one out, to think i might have been able to send it to you for that knife:D

Who needs teeth when you have a knife like that??? Just cut your meat very small

I'm already using a straw to consume my meals. :D There's only so many ways you can sever Slimfast. I had one yesterday to celebrate Easter. Hard boiled eggs through a straw really isn't to bad...........

Ray, you need a bicycle. Rattle the rest of those teeth out and just have done with it.
