Looks real nice Ray. Whats your method for getting the nice temper lines on the 5160 like that?

Bob

Your work is amazing Raymond. Are you coming to Blade this year?

Looks nice Ray. I sure like that stag. You should get some sambar deer and raise them on your place. Antlers every year that way.

ray, the only thing that would be better than seeing your knives would be to own one!

Kevin, I agree with you. Come on people, everyone needs to own 2 or 3 of my knives. :D

Bob, Basically what your looking at was done with a torch except I'll bring the blade up to temp in the forge. I remove the blade form the forge and at the same time I will light up the torch. As soon as the edge starts to cool off I'll start bringing the edge back up to temp. As soon as I can get the edge an even color I'll quench the whole blade. It takes a little less torch time to do it that way.

Bruce, If I were to try raising sambar stag I'd have to come up with away to keep them from rusting.

Here's the second finished knife from the batch of three 5160 blades that I just did. This one has a 6 5/8" blade, wrought iron fitting and a died zebrawood handle. Right around 11 1/2" overall.
