52100 - 416 San Mai Kitchen set

So why would slapping on some 416ss make a difference. Time and temperature in the forge and the thickness of your initial layers makes all the difference.

Hello Mike,

Great looking knives! I have a kitchen knife that I've just heat treated but not edge tested yet. It has 416ss outer layers and 1095 core. Great welds on this knife but hoping it is not a bucket liner... Final grind is next. Can you share what you learned regarding thickness of your initial layers and time and temperature in the forge?

Thanks!

Eric

Yes please. This would be great.

Those are exquisite. Great job. I understand about the bucket liners, they are an evil we can never really get away from.

Thanks also

Mike, You made these for the wife? She'll love them! Very nice job!

Hi Ray. They're for a customer in Hawaii. I've asked the Mrs. if she would like some good kitchen knives and she tells me to get in the shop and fill the orders for the paying customers. As long as I keep her Henckels sharp, she's happy. I haven't even made myself a good hunting knife. Isn't that sad.:grumpy:

Fantastic set of knives Mike!! I better not let the Mrs know you make a set like those or she will be wanting one.....Then it will be less knives for me lol

awesome Mike... Congratulations. I know the feeling about the wife not letting me make anything. We need to have a hammer-in designed expressly for us to all gather and make our own knives.
