On the topic of kiln temperatures once you’ve made sure there’s no decarb. You don’t necessarily need to know the exact temp as much as you need to know what temp to set your kiln at to get the peak as quenched hardness so you can just test half a dozen coupons at varying temps until you find the sweet spot for your HT set-up. I only did the temp check because I don’t yet have a hardness tester.
