52100...what am I missing?

I am having the same issue right now with Aldo's 52100. I'm going to give a test blade a nice coat of PBC tommarow and try a longer initial soak. It's getting hard but it's not getting file skating hard, if I had to take a guess without a proper hardness tester I would say it's coming out in the low 60s after quench into 130f Canola.

We use Kevin's heat treat but shoot you should be able to get a piece of 52100 hard as a woodpeckers lips with even a backyard heat treat..Something dosnt sound right at all..We don't use parks 50 on 52100 but a slightly slower fast oil, McMaster carr fast quench..

I am happy to report success with a longer soak at 1650 on the first step of the thermocycle, bout 20 minutes. Now If I can get the rest of this PBC off I'll be in business, it baked on there something fierce. I just ordered some heat treating foil, I'll need it for this stick of D2 I've had laying around at any rate
