55 Pattern

Thawk,you mentioned they are all 3 1/4".
I guess the little Cocobolo wood Schrade Walden 805 qualifies in this thread as well. Its only 2 3/4" and is a neat little knife. For comparison I put with Schrade Walden Wonda- Wood 832 which is 3 5/16" according to Sargent's 2nd edition. Also with nifty little Schrade 808 also only 2 3/4".
There was a 805SW Brown Jigged delrin at 2 3/4" as well. The timber handle varieties seem to be rarely shown on here in comparison to the jigged bone/delrin so lets see some more.... Hoo Roo

I was hoping to see some more 3 1/4" serpentine knives. We seem to have gotten way off track here.

...the thread is all yours again mate,I'll stay out of it.....perhaps we should be more like that other forum....I thought we just liked looking at photos of different USA Schrades knives on here....and seeing where the threads take us....at least the original plastic knife container in the photo is from the RB series....

Gee, I don't know what to say. May I suggest reading the first post in the thread again??
When a person wants to search these threads for pictures of 3 1/4" serpentine "55 patterns", that is what you would hope to find.
If every thread goes randomly off in all directions, you can't find anything.
When I make a comment here, it is for the good of the forums. That is my only interest!

My main interest is in learning from others and sharing whatever I already know and always has been. You dont have to be an expert to feel worthy enough to post on this forum unlike other forums and our strong point is that we do not put fellow members/posters and new chums down for not being a self styled self serving 'expert' who run the risk of being told they" have gotten way off the track" by some self imposed moderator..perhaps we should send our posts to you for prior adjudication of worthiness according to you.

"When I make a comment here,it is for the good of the forums".. according to Charlie,
....yeh just like when you declared my gold calendar Cut Co a "HOAX" and a "FAKE" and attempted to prevail on everyone that would listen in numerous vitriolic posts on myself together with your other forum cronies bum buddies....it was of course then authenticated by Bernard Levine and did you have the decency to retract one comment?.... no....and that knife shattered more than one expert reputation in the process.
I fail to see how your constant attacks on me which have now been over a considerable period is for the"" good ""of the Forum or you and your self serving cronies....perhaps the Messiah will be invited back now that Codger and myself are no longer posting......at least I had the' balls' to always call it as I honestly saw it and as far as the Calendar knife went its ironical that I was the only one who was least concerned if it was dinkum or not all through the process as I constantly asserted. You have to have an open mind to learn and accept what you may not already know to be fact. Charlie keep the olde knife posts going otherwise you wont have any Schrade contemporary to show will you?..perhaps we can be more like the other forum.....booorring lot of butt lickers.....very light on contemporary Schrade posts because their all yesterdays story...
In hindsight go back and review my simple post on a Schrade 805 and see how you had to jump on me for the ""good"" of the Forum and now see what this thread is showing a little off the topic..but thats O.K. because its not me is it and thats the real point of your gutless attacks....If and when Codger comes back I have no further interest in posting on this forum or wearing your hidden agenda attacks on behalf of your master LT. I expect to be banned now anyway as you gutless wonders report my/this post....I can live with myself and my honest contributions on this forum...can you????? There are several posters whom I would like to thank for their genuine support and comradrie over the past 4 years I have posted on here.....and you know who you are......Hoo Roo

I was only trying to keep the thread on track Larry. I'm sorry you read this as a personal attack. Lighten up, Mate!

Hey Dudes, keep smilin'. this forum is for education and fun sharing knife info.
it's o.k. to wander "off track" and it's o.k. to be guided back.
this is family here, so bickering may be inevitable, but then you gotta "kiss and make up".

Larry and Charlie both of you :thumbup:have a VERY positive influence here in this forum I would hate to see either of you get to the point of not posting your thoughts, wisdom and knives :grumpy: so that being said and by all means we are all fans and have some VERY like mindedness here lets all get along, this is not the ideal place to air dirty laundry.:p:foot::eek::)

Thanks, Shawn

Well, I apologize if I inadvertently insulted you Larry, but I ain't kissing you!

Those are all fine photos of the Schrade related patterns. I only have one, the Ulster 58OT. It has a good feel to it. I especially liked Orvet's photo of the 855 with the sheepfoot blade. Nice looking knife. Dale H.

....mate you aint ever getting close enough to me to ever slip the tongue in.......photos speak louder than any words that can be uttered on here.....I apologise if what you see and hear is what you get from me without any of the hidden agendas that serve to white ant rather than build trust....

Yes, photos will reveal the information.

And I accept your apology . . . . . . .I'm fairly sure that's what you meant . . . . . . . but feel free to clarify it! I think we call white ants "termites" in North America, but I am not 100% sure what you mean by hidden agendas.

Agreed on the photos. A good picture is worth 1000 words. It will help read the knife.

Here is a rather strange rendition on the 55 frame.

It is a shell handle, so the liners, springs & blades are riveted together. The shell handle and the outer handle material is clamped between the inner liner and the shell. On the old Imperials this material was typically a sheet of celluloid. On this particular knife it almost feels like vinyl.
The enigmatic origin of this knife is that it wears elements of three companies; The Old Timer name from Schrade, the Ulster name & pattern, and the shell construction and DE (Diamond Edge) shield of an Imperial.
I wonder who really made it?

Cool looking knife, and quite the enigma!!
Does it show any signs of having the blade replaced??

That's a strange one Dale. The shell comes from this series:

Imperial DE-82

It looks like the DE859, but it has an Ulster blade. Looks like a mutt to me, but who knows???

It piqued my interest because I'm currently looking for knives from that series to fill a display I have.

Thanks for sharing...

Glenn

Hey Guys, Nice knives I like this pattern, keep the pics coming:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Good call Glennbad. Those look a little darker in the picture but those are the ones. We've had a run on some inbreeding amongst the Schrade family blades recently. :D

Nice to see you and Randy weigh in.

I'm going to try and shoot a few more 55's tomorrow. I'm still swooning over Dales' 50 with the bone scales!

Ok here is what I think are my "55's" but correct me if I am wrong on some of these. The one DE which appears badly worn I had never before seen the blade etch which I somehow saw while taking these crappy pics tonite. It reads " diamond edge 854 de" which I guess it makes it not a 55 but its frame and size are exactally the same??? I dont know if its a true "55" but anybody guess who makes the one with the bow tie shield? its in the family??? man I gotta start taking my pics during the day my flash and camera suck!!!!!!! - Joel
