550 Cord Question????

I just received an order of 550 Para Cord from US Calvary and I have a question about it. It is marked #550 Para Cord but instead of seven (7) inner strands (that are three (3) twisted smaller cords each) the stuff I received has eight (8) inner strands (that are two (2) twisted smaller cords each). Is this as good as the seven (7) strand variety? Is it stronger?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Absolutely not. Even if it has a 550 lb tensil strength, they have misled you into thinking you are buying parachute shroud line but they have sold you a civilian counterpart. I have found this same thing every place I've tried to get the real stuff. All the Army/Navy stores, web sites I've tried, etc. all have "paracord". It is as you described inside. It is not parachute shroud line which has the 7 white inner strands
 
I suspect the 50/100/etc feet bundles of the 7 strand stuff we know and love comes from people who buy the monster reels of the real stuff and then repackage it.
 
Any idea on where to get the "real" stuff? Most places don't seem to have the 300' reels or are out of the good stuff.
