I remember there was a thread long ago where some Vancouverites pointed out places to buy 550 paracord. I can't find it.

Where can I find this stuff in Vancouver, BC or in the general area? I can use a whole spool.

As well, any leads on emergency dental supplies? Like quick setting filling and stuff? Found a kit on Ebay but would like to avoid buying from the UK!

I would hesitate at this point to recommend the Moser co on ebay for a purchase as I won 2 auctions a month ago and just recieved one spool today exactly one month later. The cord is also mil spec not actual mil which may not be a big thing to some but might matter to others. I am in the process of trying to get it all staightened out and will let you know the outcome.

Thanks for all the info!

Anyone in the Lower Mainland of BC, Canada?

FredA, do let me know how it goes. Thanks!

you might try Brigade Quartermaster or US Cavalry. Both have online websites, and carry the spools you need.

Sorry, if I'd bothered to check the sellers feedback rating, I wouldn't have posted a link to their auction. Not good, and I would not do business with them. Reads like a real flake. Again, I apologize for offering up the link.

Mooseman, thanks!

Longbow50, no worries, we're all just trying to help out. I always check the feedback anyways.

Some drug stores carry emergency filling plaster for broken teeth and cavities. We used to carry a product for it when I worked in a pharmacy as a kid. Try a local pharmacy instead of a chain.

Thanks for the replies. I found a guy off Ebay that will sell me 1000' of paracord. Will let you know how it goes.

Nathanial4, thanks! That's a pretty good one (although, I'm not a dentist).

I found this:

I think they are selling on Ebay too:

Ebay dental kit

The one thing I'm curious about are the anticeptic mouthwash tablets. What is it exactly and would they be effective; have an expiration date?

When you go to purchase 550 paracord make sure you are getting the real thing. There is a lot of "Parachute Cord" for sale but it isn't 550. Look to see that it is specifically labeled 550 or Meets NATO Specs.

If there is no label to determine if it is NATO/military spec, is there a way to tell by looking at the cord itself? Perhaps the way it is weaved? Pics of this would be helpful...

All I know is that I'm looking for 7 strand cores and completely synthetic.

If it isn't marked #550 Paracord skip it. If you see an end and you cannot count the seven strands with the white one in the middle skip it. Locally, at REI they sell a lot of cord and rope, perhaps a dozen types and the vast majority looks like paracord but is not. Climbers have different requirements and they apparently use a lot of different similar cordage. The only GI #550 I have seen is OD but there are many colors sold. I wouldn't worry about the color as much as the 550 rating. If it is not advertised as #550 it probably is not. I don't know for a fact but I doubt the offshore stuff (China) meets the standard. Best place to buy would not necessarily be at an Army surplus store but on Ebay.
