I am thinking about doing this treatment myself if it turns out to be ok I'll post pics.
 
I have 2 0550's. I may do this, but if anyone else tries this remember to make sure the lock face doesn't get damaged.

To coin a newish phrase with horrid grammar(ing): More options is more betterer.:D
 
I have started to work on it, I am just using one rock, will try to post a pic.
 
I did my 0551 frame. I'll try and get some pics. I put some of the wifes nail polish on the lock face to protect it. Seemed to do the job.
 
Thanks guys. The only issue I had is the due to the lock bar bend, the area near the cut really didn't get touched. I tried putting the lbs screw in from the internal face to push the locklock bar flush but it appears that that hole isn't tapped all the way through.
