551 lockbar: laser vs water cut?

Which one is better, any pros vs cons?

I believe it's more cosmetic then anything.. The cut looks cleaner but still functions the same.

Teh two ways it was made were fully machined or laser cut. There isn't an advantage to either one - it really comes down to personal preference. The decision to laser cut the lockbar was a manufacturing decision. Personally, I prefer the thinner laser cut slot.

With the laser cut if there is ever any lock rock I would think the tighter lock bar to the handle would limit the movement I have had both and prefer the laser

Don't know (and not sure if I care) how mine was cut. But it is the thinnest line between the lock-bar and the rest of the scale that I have ever seen. IMPRESSIVE, and I like it. However that is cut... all lock bars should be cut.

Did the 551s have both machine and laser cut? I thought they were all machined.

Some of the later 0551's were laser cut. I quickly bought it when I saw it on ebay.

my 0550 is laser cut, doubt it would make any difference in function that you could actually notice but I sure do love the way mine looks with the thinner cut, extremely clean looking.

My 0550 is laser cut, and I think it looks great with the nice, thin line. If someone would care to send me one of the machined ones, I'd be happy to evaluate it...
